Stelios Matsagos was born in in Skita small village near the city of Larissa, grew up in Thessaloniki and lived there until the end of his secondary education.
He studied sociology and photography at the "University de GRENOBLE" and
"Paris III", in France.
He is a press-photographer since 1990. Also, he is active member of the Union of Press Photographers of Greece and a permanent cooperator of the Journalist Organization Lampraki. He was also collaborated with Tahidromos, Epsilon, Eptaimero Kathimerinis, Imerisia, Exousia, Geotropio, Taxideyontas Difono, Pop & Rock, Oxygen, Echos & Artis.
In addition, he travelled all over the world for journalistic purposes e.g.
Georgia, Armenia, Azermbaitzan, Lebanon, Somalia, Ethiopia, Balkan, Southeast of Turkey(Kourdistan), Pakistan and others.
Moreover, he is cooperating with the photographic agency I.M.L.
Also, he was cooperated with the N.G.Os as Doctors without frontiers and Doctors of the world.
Furthermore, he displayed his work in two exclusive exbititions with the subjects
a) Doctors without frontiers
b) En plo (is about the life of the sailor men). In addition, he displayed his work in other two group exbitions with subjects "Refugee" and "Glimpses at the world".
Moreover, he pupblished two books with the subjects:
a) Doctors without frontiers
b) The decendants of Alexander the Great -KALASH-
